Happy New Year! December is super busy and I have been writing, but not publishing.
My new goal is to post at least once a month. For some reason with my growth I find myself looking back often. My dad told me all the time, "If you don't know your past, you are doomed to repeat it." This year I am looking back. In one of the posts I have been working on this last month I found a link to the church my parents went to and decided to just focus on that for now.

My dad went to Bible School there and got his degree. I went to school there from PreK-2nd Grade.

It is really well written and I found as I read through it that I remember and feel comfortable with all the sermons and classes, but see from my adult eyes how sick it all was. It didn't seem that bad at the time, when we were into in and going to all the meetings and classes. The church was a huge support to our little family so far from my parents families.
I was so surprised to find all I have about the church, I don't know why, there were 3000+members. My family went there for 7-8 years from the very begining in 1979-1988. We lived across the street on Occidental Ave. The church was a cult! I found the three following links in my research. I know Pastor Barnett was involved in another church about 10+ years ago. My mom met up with a friend and we were invited to a BBQ and such when I was in HS. I was shocked to hear the kids I grew up with, as they bought into all the teachings from the guy who ruined so many lives. I tried to keep in touch with a few, like my bestie Landy Whitkert. But, after I graduated I lost all contact. I still think of my friends from there now and then. Now that I can digest a bit more of what happened during that time as I am older and wiser, I think>Praise Jesus I came out a little bit normal!
